Multi-disciplinary Services

Speech Pathology

Explore our integrated suite of pediatric services, meticulously designed to cater to every child’s unique needs. From personalized behavioral therapy and speech pathology sessions to specialized support for conditions like Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), our compassionate team is dedicated to fostering the holistic development and well-being of your child.

Sensory Integration Sessions

Sensory integration means how we experience, intepret or ignore information our senses provide. Sensory integration is important in our daily activities, such as getting dressed, eating, playing, and learning. During the sensory integration sessions, we provide structured exposure to sensory input, customized play-based activities, and accommodations.

Feeding Therapy

Parents, are we finding ourselves struggling during meal time? Children on the autism spectrum or with ADHD often face difficulties with food choices and mealtime routines. Our specialized pediatric therapy services offer comprehensive feeding therapy solutions tailored to address these pain points. From sensory aversions to oral motor challenges, our experienced therapists are here to support your child’s nutritional needs and promote positive eating experiences for optimal growth and development.

Fine Motor/ Handwriting Workshop

Handwriting is a complex skill; it requires highly developed fine motor skills and other physical abilities to make it work. Fine motor skills such as grasping objects, cutting with scissors, shoe-tying, writing etc. These skills are essential for self-care, and participation in daily activities at home and at school. If children experience difficulties mastering those skills, it may cause frustration and affect children’s motivation to engage in daily activities. Through occupational therapy in kidstart, clients can develop and improve these skills without tears.

We’ve been attending Kidstart for a while now. It has been nice to see the development in our son, he enjoys the sessions and Shawn has been so supportive. The new location has easy to find parking, and their office is much bigger than before allowing for more services to be offered.

My daughter fell in love with the new space on the very first day. It is clean and bright with colorful, shiny new toys that excited and captivated her immediately. The team is friendly and professional and we are very happy to work with everyone here including the founder Shawn. My daughter was already working with Shawn at the Vancouver location and has been making very good progress. She is now doing behaviour therapy and will also start doing speech therapy at Kidstart very soon and I couldn't be happier with the fact that she can now receive occupational, behavior and speech therapy with very capable professionals all in one place which makes it much easier for busy parents like us!

No, you do not need to visit a doctor before seeing an occupational therapist.

Generally we allow parents to be present in the first few appointment. Once the child is familiarized with the session, we recommend that parents would drop of the child and come back when the session is finished. This is because sometimes parents could become distractions to the children.
